Terms & Conditions
1. Who We Are
Squire Furnishings ("we", "us", "our") trade from 27 Victoria Road, Mablethorpe, LN12 2AF. Registered in England & Wales, company number 09602395. VAT registration number 129 1954 54. You can contact us on 01507 477790 or mablethorpe@squirefurnishings.co.uk.
2. Making an Order
An order is placed when you confirm your choice in-store, by phone, or by completing checkout on this website. We'll confirm your order and expected lead time in writing (by email or in person) β this confirmation, together with these terms, forms the contract between us. We reserve the right to decline any order, for example if an item is no longer available or there's been a pricing error.
3. Prices & Payment
All prices shown include VAT at the applicable rate. We accept debit/credit card and other payment methods as advertised in-store or online. For items made to order or with an extended lead time, we may ask for a deposit of 25β50% of the order value at the time of ordering, with the balance due before or on delivery. Goods remain our property until paid for in full.
4. Delivery & Lead Times
Lead times quoted at the point of order are our best estimate based on information from our suppliers, not a guaranteed date β this is especially true for made-to-order upholstery, which can be affected by factors outside our control. We'll keep you updated if a lead time changes materially.
Please make sure there's clear access for our delivery team to the room the item is going into, and that any existing furniture that needs to be removed first has been cleared. We're not able to move an item through a space it won't physically fit, and may need to reschedule if access isn't possible on the day.
If your order is ready and we're unable to arrange a delivery date with you within a reasonable time (we'll always try to accommodate you), we may need to charge a storage fee of Β£10 per item, per week after 28 days to cover the cost of warehousing your goods.
5. Your Right to Cancel (Online & Phone Orders)
If you buy from us online or by phone (rather than in our showroom), the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of receiving your goods, without needing to give a reason.
To cancel, just let us know clearly in writing β by email, post, or using the contact details above β including your order details. We'll refund you within 14 days of receiving the returned goods (or evidence you've sent them back), using the same payment method you used to pay. You'll need to take reasonable care of the goods while they're in your possession, and you're responsible for the cost of returning them to us unless we've agreed otherwise or the goods are faulty.
This right doesn't apply to goods made to your own specific requirements β for example, a genuinely bespoke or custom-made piece β where that isn't simply a choice from our normal range of fabrics, colours or sizes. We'll always tell you clearly at the time of ordering if what you're buying falls into this category.
This 14-day right doesn't apply to purchases made in person in our showroom β those are covered by your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 instead, set out below.
6. Faulty or Misdescribed Goods
Everything we sell is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Your goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If something's wrong:
- Within 30 days of receiving the goods, you can reject a faulty item for a full refund.
- After 30 days, we'll offer a repair or replacement first; if that isn't possible, doesn't work, or takes an unreasonable amount of time, you're entitled to a full or partial refund.
- Where furniture is sold as a set (for example, a three-piece suite), a fault with one part doesn't automatically entitle you to reject the whole set.
Please get in touch as soon as you notice a problem β the sooner we know, the sooner we can sort it out.
7. Changed Your Mind? (In-Store Purchases)
Purchases made in person in our showroom aren't covered by the 14-day cancellation right described in section 5 β that only applies to online and phone orders. Outside of your statutory rights for faulty goods, any return for a change of mind on an in-store purchase is at our discretion. Please ask a member of our team about this before you buy if it's important to you.
8. Guarantees & Warranties
Many of our products come with a manufacturer's guarantee in addition to your legal rights β details are available for the specific item at the time of purchase. These guarantees sit alongside your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015; they don't replace or reduce them.
9. Price Match
Where we offer a price match guarantee, it applies to identical, in-stock items from another genuine UK retailer, and must be raised with us before you complete your purchase. Ask in-store or by phone for the current details of this guarantee.
10. Our Liability
We don't exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't legally be limited. Beyond that, our liability for losses arising from your order is limited to the value of that order, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. If Something Goes Wrong
We want to put things right if you're unhappy β please contact us first using the details above so we have the chance to sort it out directly. If we can't reach an agreement, you can refer the matter to your local Trading Standards service or Citizens Advice for guidance, or pursue the matter through the small claims court. Some furniture retailers are also members of an alternative dispute resolution scheme such as the Furniture & Home Improvement Ombudsman β ask us whether this applies to your order.
12. General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect. We may update these terms from time to time; the version shown here is the one that applies to new orders from the date shown at the top of this page. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
